The Creative Network was founded in 1999 by artist Julie Perlmutter to connect creative professionals with those who need their services and vice versa. Though that would appear to be a simple task, it wasn’t always as easy as we’ve made it. At least not in the beginning.
For years, Washington had been a city of dueling industry non-profits. Julie set out to gather the creative community under one roof so she organized a series of informal "gatherings," which let Washington’s key creative players make some lasting connections. In the early days, there was no budget for reservations, registration or regrets to her events. Everyone was simply invited to “just show up.” That now infamous phrase stuck and a organization was born. |

The network gatherings grew so succesful that in 2004, Washingtonian Magazine voted The Creative Network the #1 networking resource for Advertising, Marketing and Design.
Julie soon realized that the next step was to create a networking event that never ended and a place where connections could be made 24/7. This web site became that place.
Today, the list of creative professionals who credit Julie’s work for their success is equaled only by roster of companies indebted to her for connecting their projects to the talent they demand. With all this on her resume, it’s no wonder Julie is known in the industry as “Madame Resource!” |
